Zodiac signs have changed... What do you think about your new sign?

So my husband woke me up this morning by telling me that they have changed the dates of the Zodiac signs and now I am no longer a Libra, but now a Virgo. I have to admit that I'm ticked off. How can I be a Libra for almost 30 years and then all the sudden I'm a Virgo. I admit that a large part of being cranky about this is now I have to research Virgo and see what it says. There are so few sites that actually make sense, so researching a new sign just irks me. Plus they added one!

So who wants to tell me all about becoming a Virgo? My husband's sign changed too so now I don't know if we are "compatible". :) Here is the news story.

Astronomers have restored the original Babylonian zodiac by recalculating the dates that correspond with each sign to accommodate millennia of subtle shifts in the Earth's axis.

Here is the zodiac as the ancient Babylonians intended it—with the dates corresponding to the times of the year that the sun is actually in each constellation's "house"—according to the Minnesota Planetarium Society's Parke Kunkle:

Capricorn: Jan. 20-Feb. 16.
Aquarius: Feb. 16-March 11.
Pisces: March 11-April 18.
Aries: April 18-May 13.
Taurus: May 13-June 21.
Gemini: June 21-July 20.
Cancer: July 20-Aug. 10.
Leo: Aug. 10-Sept. 16.
Virgo: Sept. 16-Oct. 30.
Libra: Oct. 30-Nov. 23.
Scorpio: Nov. 23-29.
Ophiuchus:* Nov. 29-Dec. 17.
Sagittarius: Dec. 17-Jan. 20.

* Discarded by the Babylonians because they wanted 12 signs per year.

Jessica, I wouldn't worry about it at all. The Babylonians discarded it because they wanted 12 signs a year for a reason! The zodiac is beautiful and time honored symbolism of the changing of the season and the natural movement of the earth and how it affects us as a part of the earth organism. There is no reason to abandon a set of symbols or beliefs that meant something to you just because someone somewhere did some math. Think of the zodiac in terms of the planet's movement, the other planets and the seasons and suddenly all of this star stuff isn't as important and having 13 makes no sense at all. Perhaps the Babylonians understood this and actively choose to omit number 13 on this principle. If, however, you find this to be a revelation of self that you've never had in almost thirty years and suddenly really feel like you ARE indeed a Virgo than embrace Virgo! it's really about what it means to you in terms of your life and development.
