News, events and networking for the Pagan community of Michigan

Hello,

One reason I joined this board was in the hope that I might find something worthwhile in life to cheer me up. With the assault on Nature that is destroying our planet, overpopulation, oil spills, Rush Limbaugh, morons in Washington, wicked people everywhere persecuting others for being different than they are, and the constant predictions by scientists that if we aren't destroyed by an asteroid, it will be global warming, supervolcanoes, or some other destructive event, PLUS predictions by the Mayans that after 2012 we're done, over, finished, well, it sometimes gets pretty hard to get out of bed in the morning.

I'm hoping for a ray of sunshine to climb onto.

Anything?

Well... it's not like anything's different. Except maybe the oil spill. Natural disasters and assholes have been around since the dawn of time and they're not going anywhere. BUT I can say that the Mayans have predicted no such disaster. In 2012 the calendar resets. What's the point of having a calendar reset if nothing is going to happen beyond that? We are approaching a consciousness shift and as such, we're going to go through some growing pains. Sometimes people need some extreme shit to go on to be able to look at things differently. When people are assholes, they just make fools of themselves which makes the people who disagree with them look better in contrast. When people poke giant holes in the Earth and fill the ocean up with crud that interferes with rich folks's shrimp cocktail, those same rich folk might rethink their opposition to seeing their skyline cluttered up by unsightly wind turbines.
I love your response. Thanks so much, Dawn!
Man, I was thinking the same thing today. One day this planet, trees and oceans will start fighting back. I love to walk in the woods and be by large water.

The ray of sunshine that you are looking for is, ironically, in one of the most challenging places to see into.  It's behind your eyes.  With just a slight, yet significant, shift of perspective, the very same attitudes that are bringing you down can lift you up instead.  Here's what I saw in your message:

You KNOW that there is something better than the stupidity that you see going on all around you.  You DESIRE to reach out and join with others who know this as well.  You have ACTED to make this happen. This combination of knowledge, desire and the will to act form a foundation for positive change.

Kindred spirits can act as mirrors, lenses and prisms to reflect, focus and expand the ideas that will give you strength. However, you and ONLY you can generate that ray of light that will illuminate your individual path.

Namaste,

Gyrfalcon

Thanks, Gyrfalcon. Its not always an easy path I'm finding out, but a worthy one.

Always looking for others to chat with about these matters.

Hi Kevin,

Gryfalcon, gave a great answer, all the answers are great, really. As the charge goes, if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thyself, thee shall never find it without. I think that is the hardest thing for a lot of us, realizing that our state of mind has more to to with our perception of others...kinda like if you're looking for good you'll find it, but if you're looking on the negative side, you'll find plenty of that  too.  I think most of us have days like this, but if you look within and look at what you can do personally to make life a little better for someone or something it can take your mind of your troubles and the world's troubles and make you feel better too. Hope your day improves. Take care,

Kalia

I see all these things too, however, I try to see past them, and see all the gorgeous things in life. I am not a cheery person, by any means, and easily get depressed, so I actively look for the beauty in life. I LOVE nature. I greatly appreciate all the great wildlife I get in my yard or I see while hunting. I love taking pictures of my flowers in my garden in the summer, or taking pictures and appreciating the moon. I see beauty in my children, and my 1 year old niece. I love the moments watching them, when they don't know it, and they are truly themselves. I love my pets, I have 1 dog, 3 cats, 1 rabbit and 4 chickens and 4 more chicks coming in February. I see beauty in the antiques that love to hop for. I know there re so many ugly things in life, and you can't ignore them, but please don't ignore the beauty.
