News, events and networking for the Pagan community of Michigan
Who can post an event?
Any member of the PaganMichigan.net website is welcome to post an event on our calendar.
What sort of events can be posted?
Any event that will be of interest to Pagans, Witches, Occultists, Astatruars, Druids and other members of our extended community may be posted provided it takes place within the state of Michigan or reasonably close to its boarders within the Great Lakes Region.
How do I access the form to submit an event?
Go to our calendar at http://www.paganmichigan.net/events and click on "Add An Event" near the top right side of your screen.
What information is required?
We ask that you fill out all the fields in the event submission form to the best of your ability.
Name: The name of the event. It should be obvious to anyone glancing at this name what the event is.
Description: Give some more details about the event, including price, whether there are any age or other restrictions for attendees, whether it is clothing optional, what people should bring, etc.
Event Type: This box allows us to "tag" our events so that we can easily catagorize them, so we like to treat this one with a little more care. To allow us to sort by location, we ask that you include the town, county and region, if possible. For example: detroit, wayne_county, southeast_michigan. In addition, the type of event is also important. You can use tags like: ritual, class, workshop, social, etc. to designate this. Please note that if there are multiple words in your tag, you must put quotes around them, for example: "drum circle".
Finally, if the ritual is associated with a specific holiday or event that you indicate this. Such tags may look like "full moon" "new moon" midwinter, midsummer, samhain, mabon, "spring equinox", etc.
So for example, a Samhain ritual taking place in Detroit, Michigan might be tagged as follows:
Detroit, Southeast_michigan, Wayne_county, ritual, samhain
Then anyone looking for an event in Detroit, Southeast Michigan or Wayne County will easily find it, anyone looking for Samhain events will also easily find it.
Starts and Ends: We must know the start and end time of the event. If it is an all day event you have the option to designate it as such.
Unfortunately, we do not have repeat capability at this time, so if this is a repeating event, you will have to re-enter it manually.
Location Here we want to know the name of the place the event is being held AND the town the place is located. For example: The Phoenix Cafe in Hazel Park.
If you do not know the name of the place, or if it's in someone's home, you can just put the name of the town.
Street and City/Town Enter the address of the place the event is being held as completely as you are able.
Website or Map If the organization hosting this event has a website or the event has an RSVP page somewhere, please enter the full URL here.
Phone Provide a contact phone number, if available
Organized By Please make every effort to find out who is actually responsible for this event and put the name of the individual, business or organization in this box.
Can I post someone else's events on this calendar?
Yes you may, but please indicate who is actually responsible for the event in the "organized by" field in the event submission form. Also, we encourage you to make every effort to notify the host of the event that you have posted it on our website and provide a link to their listing. It is only polite.
Someone else posted my event and it needs to be edited or removed or I need control over it. What should I do?
Contact the person who posted your event to make minor changes to it. If you do not receive satisfaction within 48 hours that way, contact customer service through the Pagan Michigan profile on this site or email paganmichigan@gmail.com. Please include the URL of the even posting in question in your correspondence. Ultimately, in order to take over control of the event, you will have to recreate the event under your profile and the original will need to be deleted.
I am not terribly tech savvy and can't figure out how to post my own events. Can someone help me?
Sure. You can send any questions to customer service at the Pagan Michigan Profile on this site or contact paganmichigan@gmail.com. If your's totally stumped, feel free to send a list of your events, together with the address and contact phone number for all of them to paganmichigan@gmail.com and we'll get them posted for you.
How will you get the word out about my event?
Pagan Michigan will display your event on our calendar until it has passed. Provided you've posted your event prior to the last weekend before the first of the month in which your event takes place, your event will appear in our newsletter. It may also be announced the day before it happens on Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.
